Where a monetary figure is wanted, such as the embedded carbon cost of a product, it is derived from the metrics and a price obtained elsewhere: carbon intensity multiplied by mass multiplied by a price in a chosen market. The price is not a property of the product, it varies by market and by date, and whoever performs the calculation chooses it, so publishing the result would fix one observer's assumptions into the credential.
